I like the idea of the Midsummer's Tree in Worthing. I'm tempted to go there on Midsummer's Eve and see if any skeltons decide to come out and dance round it!

I like the articles on this site and how much they tell you about the history round here. I didn't realise it either! I'm now interested in finding out some more about the folklore round here!

I didn't realise there was so much history round here! You always hear about other places in England steeped in history, but you always forget to look in your own back garden! I think most places in England are rich in history. I will have to go out this weekend and investigate the place I live in! Isn't it a shame how little we know about where we live these days.

Thomas, I agree - Steyning museum is fantastic. There's so much information on the history of the surrounding area. Great for adults and children to learn so much about the area we live in.

Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding are full of surprises - just take a look!

There has been a castle in Bramber since the time of William the Conqueror. Steyning church was founded by a Saxon saint - with a very strange story. Upper Beeding grew around a Benedictine priory but who built the fantasy French chateau?

See what a fascinating place this is, lying across ancient chalk-downland tracks in West Sussex, with half-timbered houses and flint churches. There will be a warm welcome for you at the Museum. We are independently run by volunteers, for the community, and admission is free.
