POLICE at Steyning front desk were alarmed when an elderly woman brought in a hand grenade with the pin still in tact and two lots of ammunition her recently deceased husband had been keeping.
PC Mike Dowling, of Steyning Police, said: "We immediately contacted the bomb disposal experts who sent a unit from Aldershot. They x-rayed the ammunition and said they considered it safe but took it away with them."
What was he keeping it for? A rainy day?!

That's mad! Though, I do know that my aunt has to be careful round her house whem gardening. It's on some farmland. The original buildings were destroyed by plane-dropped land mines, and it's thought that some of them may not have gone off! There could still be some buried in the grounds!

What a souvenire that would be! Imagine him bringing it out at parties!
