I thought Wolfman looked rather good! I'm a bit sceptical now. I will probably still go see it anyway. I did hear that Radio 1 only gave it 2 stars, so that's two not so good reviews I've now heard! But I always like to find out for myself!

Hi All!
This week I went to see Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
Plot: Young Percy discovers his destiny is to prevent an epic war between the ancient Gods.
I will not be too fussy with the acting in this as the main cast we three teenagers so they do not have the experience to back them. They did pretty well though for their age. The sub-plot between Percy and the lead girl is pretty obvious from the start, but it's a teenage epic, so subtlety isn't a strong point! I think the film was very good, much better than I was expecting. I love a good epic! There was a good balance of adventure, action, and comedy without letting the audience lose interest. I will say that the story felt rather segmented, but it wasn't too obvious. What I mean is, there was the initial discovery with an action scene, then it moves onto the next issue where there are three goals to achieve, and each has its bit of action. So you start to expect it; travelling, finding what you're looking for, a dangerous obstacle in the way, then escape. Then the next scene starts the same sequence all over again. Still, it was very enjoyable and it's one I will probably get on DVD. If you like the early Harry Potter films, then this is for you.
Until next time…

I just went and saw Percy Jackson and I agree that it's a good epic. I really enjoyed it. The balance between action and comedy was good and I at least stayed interested for the whole film! I really wanted to know how it was going to turn out! I predicted who the bad guy was pretty early on, but that just adds to the satisfaction when you realise you are right!

Well, you've both sold me on Percy Jackson and the Lightning Theif! I think I'll take my nephew to see it this weekend, especially as it's a young epic. Thanks for the reviews!

Hi All!
Today's review is about Valentine's Day.
Plot: Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Ashton Kutcher, Jamie Foxx and Jessica Alba star in a romantic comedy from the director of Pretty Woman.
I was seriously looking forward to this film; a little too much I think. I built it up and up and up to the point where once I finally got to go see it, I felt slightly disappointed. I'm not sure what I was expecting; an incredicble epic mabe??!! Either way, I still think it is a very good film. It is quite funny, one (maybe two) bits are predictable, and there is an awful lot of romance! I thoroughly enjoyed it! If you are into serious Rom-Coms then you will love this! The cast is incredible, so if nothing else, go and see it for that!
Until Next time…

I know what you mean when you say you build up a film before you see it and then end up disappointed! It happens to me all the time. I thought Valentine's Day looked quite funny, but it sounds a bit more soppy than anything else! I might give it a miss and go see something a bit more manly like Solomon Kane!

I think Valentine's Day sounds really good! Is it still showing? I'm not the mood for a feel-good movie this weekend. There are so many serious/action films out at the moment! It'll be nice to see something a little calmer!

There are so many great new films out at the moment that I don't know what to watch! It's so hard to pick! It's like I need to go to the cinema every day, all day, for about 3 days or a week just to be able to see them all before they disappear!

Hi All!
Over the weekend I went and saw A Single Man.
Plot: A British college professor in Los Angeles struggles to find meaning in his life after the death of his long-term partner.
It's 1962, and George (Colin Firth) is immaculately dressed and groomed to face the world. Inside, however, he is desolate after the death of Jim (Matthew Goode). During the course of a single fateful day his encounters include Kenny (Nicholas Hoult), a cocky youngster who lives in the moment, and old friend Charley (Julianne Moore) who still harbours the delusion that she and George might have a future together.
I wasn't sure about seeing this film, but it was worth it. It's what I would call an 'artistic' film. You're not quite sure of the whole story until maybe 3/4 of the way through. You have to be patient as you slowly learn George's history through flashbacks to his life with his partner, Jim. It is a very sad film, but not a tear-jerker. You end up feeling very sorry for George as the day progresses and are glad whenever he experiences any joy, though you know it's not going to last long. It's a serious film and requires a bit of thinking. If you like films such as Seven Pounds, then you'll probably enjoy this.

A Single Man sounds pretty good. I might try and see it before it leaves the cinema. Apparently it was nominated for 3 Golden Globe Awards, and yet I've not heard much about it!

A Single Man was a strange film. It was a bit slow and I wasn't sure if I wanted to sit through the whole thing. I'm glad I did, but it did take a lot of will power! It's not one I'll buy on DVD.

I'm on the fence about A Single Man. I can't receide whether or not to go see it! Usually I would wait until it came out on DVD, but now I'm not so sure. I'l l probably end up missing it and going to see something else!

Hi All!
Today's fil,m is Legion.
Plot:
Humans incur the wrath of The Almighty and His dark angels in this apocalyptic supernatural thriller.
A dusty old diner in the remote regions of the Mojave Desert becomes the unlikely battleground for the survival of the human race. When God finally loses faith in mankind, he sends a terrifying legion of angels to bring on the Apocalypse. Humanity's only hope lies in a group of strangers trapped in the eatery, including owner Bob Hanson (Dennis Quaid) and his son. Also finding his way onto the scene is chief saviour Archangel Michael (Paul Bettany). Expelled from heaven, he is on a mission to find Charlie (Adrianne Palicki), a young, pregnant waitress he believes is carrying the new messiah capable of safeguarding the future of humankind. But with his brother and nemesis Gabriel (Kevin Durrand) determined to carry out God's extermination orders, the holy mother of all showdowns is about to erupt.
This was another film I was really looking forward to. It wasn't as mind-blowingly brilliant as I was expecting, but it was still very good! The religious side of things was done to just the right level; not too over-the-top. I love the way the angels were presented as well. There was a good amount of suspense, but it wasn't jumpy or scary, If you like dark action-thrillers where you need to stretch your imagination just a little then you will enjoy this film.
Until next time…

Wow, good review! I agree about the religious bits. It almost went a bit too far, but I think overall it was a very good film. I like a bit of possessions and adventure on a Sunday afternoon!

Legion turned out to not quite be my sort of film. It was a bit far-fetched for me and not a lot really happened. I thought they would be on the run a bit more, but it all pretty much happened in one place. It's not one that I'll buy on DVD.

Hi All!
Today's film is The Bounty Hunter.
Plot: Feuding former married couple Milo and Nicole find their spark gets reignited when he is assigned the task of arresting her…
After getting kicked out of the police force, Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler) is reduced to taking a job as a bounty hunter. To Milo's amusement, he is assigned to track down his own ex-wife, Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston). A feisty investigative reporter, Nicole is not at all pleased to see Milo back in her life. "What I do is I hunt down idiots who jump bail," Milo tells her with evident relish. But if he thinks it's going to be an easy payday, he's forgotten how resourceful – and downright infuriating – his ex can be. As Nicole quickly gives him the slip to chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo goes after her. Soon the couple are scrapping just like old times – but then they find themselves on the run for their lives…
This is another film that didn't turn out to be as good as I was expecting. It wasn't as funny as it looked like it was going to be, but it was still very good; just a bit more serious than the trailer leads you to believe! Butler and Aniston are both very good in the film and the chemistry between them is perfect. I didn't really believe Anniston when she was meant to be crying for real, but other than that she was pretty good. I'm not sure if I'd watch it again. There are those films I am willing to see twice at the cinema, but this isn't one of them; maybe a DVD buy once the price goes down! The humour is good and not too over-the-top, but I wasn't rolling around the floor laughing. It's a great Sunday afternoon film to go see with a friend or your partner if you want to put a smile on your face.
Until next time…

Thanks for the review. The trailer does make it look as though it's going to be really funny. It's a shame that it didn't turn out to be. I might still go and watch it though. I do like a good rom-com every now and then!

I agree that it wasn't as funny as it looked, but it was still a great film! I did laugh in places, but there was a lot of long period where not too much happened. The ending was slightly predictable, but only slightly! I didn't guess it exactly right, but close enough!
