Yeah, Chanctonbury Ring is beautiful! If anyone hasn't been, they really should go! Have you read the article on it on this site? It's history sounds facinating!

How cool is the Devil folklore! I think it's amazing. This whole area has some pretty brilliant folklore with the Devil digging the land up!

The folklore round here is pretty emmense. It does seem to mainly involve the Devil and him digging Devil's Dyke. Chnactonbury and Cissbury ring are supposed to be clumps of earth that were flung out off his shovel as he dug the dyke, though another story says they are clumps of dirt that fell from his hoof as he ran. Either way, Chnactonbury Ring is beautiful.

Wow, that's cool. What was he running from? I like the idea that he was digging the Dyke and the mud fell off or was thrown from his spade. Why was he digging it?
